Trip to the Farm

On Friday, we went with our ward's playgroup to a little farm down the road. They did a tour through the farm and taught the kids about pioneers, garden plants, and basic farm animals. Adam had a great time, though he insisted that every animal said "meow." He knows most of the animal sounds, but today, everything said "meow." It made his day that at the end, we saw a real family of cats!

Here is Adam outside the pygmy goat pen.

These are a special kind of fuzzy chicken. You really can't blame him for thinking they might go "meow!"

Adam's favorite were the geese. They were noisy and big and he would run over to their fence and start jumping up and down.

Here is Adam by the pig pens. The piglets actually scared him a little bit.

And by the cows, the only animals that made their own, correct sound. :)

At the end of the tour, they let the kids each choose a pumpkin from this field full of them.

He chose this one. We're going to be carving pumpkins in a week or two.

It was really fun to get out and about with some sisters and their kids from our ward. Adam loved seeing all the animals, and he actually really enjoyed the garden part, too. They showed us HUGE zucchini, tiny fresh peas, and corn that was 8 feet tall! It was a beautiful day (not quite cold enough for that big coat he's wearing, but he didn't complain), and sunny. I can't think of a better way to welcome in the autumn months!
