the end of chocolate chip cookies

Okay, I am through. I have tried for years now to make chocolate chip cookies. And I can't. I can make tiered cakes, difficult pies, fancy treats and pastries of every kind, but the simple staple of homemade goodness completely eludes me. Mine always come out flat.
I have gone to websites, tried variations of the recipe, used different kinds of butter, flour, and sugar, different temperatures of the ingredients, different pans, different altitudes, refrigerating the dough.... the list goes on. And I am tired. Tired of opening the oven door to another shiny tray full of flat chocolate-chip wafers. They taste okay, but they don't taste like chocolate chip cookies.
So I am through. The next time I want to make them, no matter the reason, I will be bringing home the Nestle dough.
And to the rest of you, especially those of you who have brought over your own perfectly plump, delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies--- HOW ON EARTH DO YOU DO IT??!!

I like a flat crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle cookie. I use the Mini chips because I like a little bit of chocolate in every bite.

Jocelyn makes a great plump soft cookie, she tried to teach me, but I haven't been able to master her's.
