Y'all probably thought I had given up blogging...
Anyway, this is just a collection of random stories over the past week or so, sorry there are no pictures, but I'll get some up soon, and hopefully a video as well.
Story #1: Adam had his first candy. Now, BEFORE you start getting all judgmental about the parents of said cute 9-month-old, finish the story.
***It begin at a Christmas years ago, when I was still finding silly presents to go with Steve's love of chickens. I found this little plastic candy-filled stick with a chicken on top that crashed cymbals when you pushed a button. It was a cheap toy, but funny, and somehow it got saved and made it all the way to our current place.
Enter one curious baby.
Who liked the chicken, and especially the fact that the candy rattled around (very small, beady candies).
Add one mom who doesn't think the lid will come off, it being screwed tightly, who talks to her husband while letting her son play with the chicken.
Imagine a moment devoid of incessant rattling... ***
Yeah. I looked down to see a very, VERY happy baby mouthing something, tons of little tiny candies spread around him. I smelled his breath... yep, fruity. He definitely ate some. And he was not happy to see me pick them up. The saddest part was, he spent the rest of the day licking the inside of the plastic stick the candies were in.
All in all, it was actually pretty funny. We like to shock people by saying that Adam had his first candy. :)
Story #2: Our friend held a birthday party for his wife at Chuck-E-Cheese just for fun, so Adam got to go for the first time. He enjoyed pushing his own stroller around, crawling behind the machines looking for power cords, and lifting small basketballs out of one of the games to play with on his own terms. A good time was had by all.
Story #3: Thanksgiving. We went to Steve's sister Bonnie's house, and there was quite the family gathering. All siblings except two, plus his parents, and everyone's kids, and a friend Steve brought from work. It was fun, though Adam fell asleep during his introduction to turkey, and then had over-excitement issues several times, poor guy. He also pushed his 20 lb. cousin around in our umbrella stroller. (We got a movie of it, I think.) There were several cute pictures taken, including the five youngest grandchildren in the family who all happen to be blonde at the moment, yet somehow none were taken with our camera... how sad. I'll be emailing certain relatives soon.
But then we got to come home and decorate for Christmas, so it's okay.
Anyway, all these are merely anticlimactic to the REAL story:
ADAM IS OFFICIALLY A WALKER!!!!
YEA!!!!
He has worked so hard to get here, we have to give him a lot of capital letters. :)YEA!!!!
I say "official" because now he can walk halfway the length of the living room before deciding to sit down. He can also stand up from the ground, and turn around to take a step. We are so proud of him, and so glad he's walking because he's heavy! :)
And I think that's all of our news. Thanks for sticking with me despite the blogging famine. My blog and I hope to be more substantial in the future. :)

I understand the famine...sometime it's just tough...especially when (I'm sure I'll find out some day) you have a walking baby! Congrats!
